1955 Raleigh Superbe bike, prime example of post-war British roadster.
As you can see in pics, it looks so charming. It has been repainted at some point in its life in military green, making a lovely contrast with the brown grips, saddle and tyres.
Mechanically this is a high spec machine for the time, with a quite rare and upmarket Sturmey Archer FG 4 speed dynohub. Brakes are rod type (so retro) and saddle a classic leather Wrights Olimpic, in excellent condition for age.
It has been fully serviced for the sale, including new Kenda brown tyres, new gear cable, new cotter pins and bearings regreased (bottom bracket, headset, front hub). Even lights work! (there is a frictionless generator in rear wheel, so cool).
Whilst in excellent condition for age, please note that it is 60 years old so there is some wear and tear associated to age. Cosmetically it is in good shape as you can see in pics, but not perfect. Some marks in paint and the odd rust spot. The detachable part of the chaincase is missing, but does not affect the ride and on the bright side it makes removing the wheel easier in case of a puncture.
It comes with side stand, mudguards, bell, full-lenght chaincase and the mentioned lights, so very convenient. .Actually those bikes were made for loads of trouble free miles in all wheather condition.
Overall, a TRUE retro bike, looking pleasingly vintage but with many miles yet in its wheels.
